In My Father's House

'In My Father's House' at the Venice Biennale is a reflection on the fathered and the fatherless. We are asking the question "what is a father?" The performance references the spaces which we consider home; both physical and spiritual. M+R have collaborated with the Rev. Neil Lambert to create an interactive experience where conversations with our audience become the substance of the work. The workwear of our ancestors professions (blacksmith, cobbler, printer) have become uniforms for the performance in which we place ourselves in a public space to provoke a response. Lambert's art practice involves serving tea and this act is our offer of hospitality. There is no agenda or expectation beyond reconciliation and meeting. We offer a curated space in which dialogue becomes the art. The finished work is an unfinished conversation.
