From the Vow Made
From the Vow Made
'From The Vow Made' is a contemplative sculptural installation suspending 1000 wax objects made by 1000 people. Each object, or votive, explores the subject of 'giving thanks' and is a response to the unique collection of 550 year old wax votives found at the Cathedral following the bombing of 1942. The votive's history offers a glimpse into the lives of those who visited in Cathedral in Medieval times. The recreation of this tradition has brought diverse communities together in response to one simple question "what are you grateful for?" 100KG of wax was sourced locally from Devon bee keepers to create this artwork.
