'The Gathering' symbolises a group of people or thoughts related to a shared experience. This temporary artwork focusses on Timisoara railway station in Romania as both a meeting and a departure point; Journeys, decisions and life changing events take place here all the time but often remain unseen, hidden by every day routine. The artwork evolved through research into the history of this location and conversations with local people about their aspirations for the future of Timisoara. Visual inspiration has been drawn from communication wires, conversations taking place, grand chandeliers, derelict infrastructure and collections of objects; the normality of life set against the backdrop of faded history and uncertain future.
